HELLENIC NEUROSURGICAL SOCIETY
NEUROSURGICAL ANATOMY AND WHITE MATTER DISSECTION COURSE
Department of Neurosurgery – University of Athens
20 – 23 April 2015
I would like to cordially invite you to our Fifth Hellenic Cadaveric Course, taking place in beautiful Athens.
Our Neurosurgical Anatomy Laboratory is a 200sqm state-of-the-art research and education facility located in a beautifully restored neoclassical building owned by the nearby Evangelismos Hospital, the largest Hospital of Greece.
The laboratory was developed to provide a facility to perform neurosurgical anatomical dissections, to learn difficult skull base approaches, to train residents in various neurosurgical exposures, the use of microscopy for bone dissection and for developing newer approaches.
Several white matter tracts in the brain remain difficult to identify because they are indistinguishable from the surrounding white matter. Knowledge of these complex communication pathways which link cortical and deep brain structures in functional neural circuits is essential for planning neurosurgical procedures and minimalizing the impact of surgery on normal neurocognitive and sensorimotor function. One of the current ongoing studies is related to precise dissection and localization of white matter tracts in anatomic dissection.
EANS Individual Members are entitled to a reduced registration fee. To take advantage of this, please mention that you are an EANS Individual Member when applying for the course.
We look forward to seeing you in Athens!
